You can choose Hull points or Rig points as zero point, the center point for rotations, the point around which the the graph can be rotated.
Hull points (coordinates) are fixed values (read from storage) and - with exception of D0 (D0X) - are not directly editable within the program.
Rig points are computed values. (Just the mast-length values will be loaded/read.)
The selection of the Model parameter is of course an important selection. Forestay (VO), Shroud (WA), Spreader Height (SH) and Spreader Distance(SA) are most often used. Only Input-Parameters are listed under Model params. The current value of a parameter can be changed with the mouse wheel or using the touch bar.
Output params are similar to Model-Parameters. But cannot be directly adjusted at the real boat. Attention: When you change these parameter values - Forestay and Shroud will change to fit.
Under View params only Pan is listed. Other view-parameters like Zoom and Rotations don’t need to be selected, because they are active all the time. And - as mentioned above - the pivot point for rotations of the model can be selected with the buttons for rig or hull points.
The Memory slots T1 through to T6 have been added only recently. And reading and writing of data is under review.
The selection of the Spreader type has also been added back into the app recently. This is important for the Cadet class. Supporting the Cadet with a built in memory slot of example data may be coming soon. It was not necessary for the 420, where spreader type fixed is the default.
Navigation is about the selection of the current page of buttons. Not all buttons fit on one page, so several pages are needed. On the desktop you can use keyboard shortcuts, which will make navigation easier or even unnecessary.
The color of background and text can be changed too. I hope you will find a combination that looks decent.
The demo mode listed under Options needs explanation. In Demo mode you are only concerned with the change of one parameter. When selecting a different parameter, the state of the model will be automatically reset. This is not the case in Pro mode. Other names for Demo/Pro would be Rookie/Expert. Important is only that you know what it means. If you find yourself in Demo mode, it is probably necessary to change over to Pro mode (with click on button mod), to continue ‘work’.
The Hull can be shown or hidden. Normally you do not need to show it. But it is useful when first looking at the graph. As of today there is only one hull model - of the 420 class - included in the app. You could help out with providing better data for other classes.
The Touch bar is used to change the value of the current parameter on the touch screen. This is what it is all about! The desktop application uses the wheel of the mouse or the keyboard But with the touch screen it can be done as well. You will need to find out what the touch bar looks like, and how it works. Tip: Try to touch the gray area between the buttons gently. (Not everyone can master it. You have to do it slowly, and at the same time watch the display of the value of the current parameter change.)
Rotation about Z-axis and Zoom do not work as expected on a touch screen device. Instead, you have to use the upper or lower touch bar for this. However, you can control the Rotation X / Y directly with a touch move over the center of the screen - with just one finger, or by dragging the mouse.
It is entirely possible that the concept of operation will change in the future. It may perhaps work exactly as you would expect. It depends to some extent on improved capability of the tools I use. Until then I hope you can cope with the touch bar.
